STENNIS SPACE CENTER, Miss., April 4, 2019 – With today’s successful 500-second hot-fire test of Engine 2062 at NASA’s Stennis Space Center, Aerojet Rocketdyne has completed acceptance testing of all 16 RS-25 engines and flight controllers needed to support the first four flights of NASA’s Space Launch System (SLS). CANOGA PARK, Calif., April 1, 2019 – Astronauts aboard the International Space Station completed the installation of six new Lithium-Ion (Li-Ion) batteries to provide electric power to the station and crew during two extra-vehicular activities (EVAs). The four-year process of replacing the station’s outdated nickel hydrogen (Ni-H2) batteries with higher-efficiency Li-Ion batteries will be spread out over eight EVAs, four of which have been successfully completed.
